Laravel Developer to Join the Team on an Existing Education LMS (Remote, Nepal)

An Australian education company runs a Laravel-based learning management system (LMS) used by schools and training organisations. The platform is live and in active development, and the in-house team needs an additional Laravel developer who can work with them day to day, contributing to the existing codebase rather than starting something new.

The role

• Work from home in Nepal for an Australian company, with a few hours of overlap with Australian Eastern business hours
• Pick up tickets from the team backlog: new LMS features, bug fixes, performance work and refactoring
• Build and maintain REST APIs consumed by the web front end and a mobile app
• Write migrations, queued jobs, notifications and automated tests following the team's conventions
• Take part in code review, daily stand-ups and sprint planning

Must have

• Three or more years of professional Laravel and PHP 8 experience with MySQL
• Comfortable with Git-based workflows, pull requests and CI
• Good spoken and written English for team communication

Priority given to developers who have previously worked on education software: an LMS, school management system, online course or assessment platform (for example Moodle, Canvas, custom LMS, SCORM/xAPI, gradebooks or enrolment systems). Please highlight this experience in your proposal.

Engagement: monthly retainer or project basis, your choice. Expected load is roughly 120 to 160 hours per month on retainer. Please quote your hourly rate and, if you prefer, a monthly or project rate. Initial engagement is three months with the intention of making it ongoing.
